In laminectomies the vertebral arch is removed to give additional access to the spinal cord or to relieve pressure on particular segments. It is available in 7", 8" and 9" and in a variety of a variety of bite widths making it highly useful in a vast array of surgical scenarios. The special tubular shaft can be rotated in 45-degree steps in 8 different locking positions, for a range of cutting angles. The shaft may only be released in 1 of the 8 positions, preventing accidental release during surgery. The shaft comes apart in 4 different pieces for easy cleaning and sterilization. In addition, the tubular shape of the shaft makes disassembly faster and cleaning easier, unlike traditional rongeurs which have two sliding (upper and lower) shafts. Handle for Improved Rotating Kerrison Rongeurs come in both the stainless steel and ceramic coated finish. These handles are to be used in conjunction with the Improved Rotating Kerrison shafts, which are sold separately. The no-spring design handle design elimates the risk of broken springs or caught gloves.
