In laminectomies the vertebral arch is removed to give additional access to the spinal cord or to relieve pressure on particular segments. It is available in 7", 8" and 9" and in a variety of a variety of bite widths making it highly useful in a vast array of surgical scenarios. The shaft may only be released in 1 of the 8 positions, preventing accidental release during surgery. The shaft comes apart in 4 different pieces for easy cleaning and sterilization. In addition, the tubular shape of the shaft makes disassembly faster and cleaning easier, unlike traditional rongeurs which have two sliding (upper and lower) shafts.
