The cerebellum itself can be cushion and safe from damage by the placement of cotton strips. This retractor can be used to secure soft tissue and move it to clear the surgical field. This instrument has angled arms and sharp prongs making it able to effectively grip tissue and secure it with a ratcheting mechanism.
