Wertheim Pedicle Clamp is most often used in situations that require the need to clamp off blood vessels or tumor pedicles. In this case, the clamp can be held in place due to the ratchet on the ring-handles, and can be released when desired. The curved, serrated jaws also help to reduce trauma to the area being grasped.
